About me

This is meI am a 27 year old guy that is always looking to do something a little out of the ordinary. Living free...that's my calling. I refuse to be bound by convention and try to live honestly and meaningfully.

On January 24th, 2009 I set out on my latest adventure to ride my bike from the Europe to Asia--from the Atlantic to the Pacific. I first had this idea in 2004, my first summer out of college working at a startup bike shop in Rockland, Maine. That the seed had been planted was enough to take the first action steps--the bike. I spent all my meager wages on building up the perfect heavy-duty, do-anything touring bike in the euphoria of those first few months after having the idea. It would take another four years for all the pieces to fall into place and 2009 is now the year.

This adventure is just that--an adventure. It is not really about self-discovery, identity crises, or running away from anything--It is for fun! I have acquired a taste for travel after backpacking around East and Southeast Asia, and now it's time to broaden the scope and challenge of overland travel. I look forward to seeing the world at 10 mph, slow enough to see the caterpillar on the road, but quick enough to cover 10,000 miles in a year.

I feel like everything in my life so far has converged towards this; my education, my work experience, my personal relationships--it has all led me here. I feel I am totally equipped physically, mentally and emotionally to do this and am excited every day to advance a little more.

I have made the conscious decision from the beginning to not seek out sponsorships for gear or money. I am not riding for a charity and am not raising money. Perhaps that is selfish, but this is just a story of a guy on his bike, traveling under his own steam. It is related to the concept of personal, individual achievement.  I take responsibility for my life and if I want to have an adventure, it will be of my own making.

Along the way, I will try to update this site as frequently as possible  Readers will understand that I endeavor to appreciate the full experience of the road and what it brings.  This could mean that this site may become stale from time to time.  But fear not., I will provide full reflection...eventually!

I always look forward to maintaining and building relationships. There are many good ways to get in touch:
